Wim Hof Breaks World Record by Being Immersed in Ice Bath for Over an Hour

At the Rubin Museum of Art today in New York City, Wim Hof, a 48 year old married Dutchman, broke the record. The record he broke today was his own. He was immersed in an ice bath for 1 hour and 12 minutes to set the record. Apparently Wim Hof is the only known non-Tibetan Yogi Monk who has mastered the technique of Tummo. Tummo is Tantric practice with allows for “Mind Over Matter” to be practiced. The practice allows for one to control the body’s “natural survival mode” instincts, and to divert heart and moderate their own body temperature through meditation.

It was roughly 32 degree Fahrenheit in New York City today during the start of the event, and his body temperature was in the normal 90′s. He stepped in to a 6 foot tall clear enclosure, and then ice (Arctic Glacier Ice, inc) good enough to drink was poured over his body until all of his body except for his head was immersed in ice. He shivered minimally only during the times the camera people broke his meditation by speaking to him, and ask him of how he was doing.
